Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said” destroy this temple and I will build it in three days”. He was talking about his body. Every sin other than sexual sin is committed outside the body. Sexual sins are committed against the temple of the Holy Spirit. Our bodies should be offered as a living sacrifice to God. It is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Sins come from within and not from outside. Lust, sloth, gluttony-they all originate from the mind and poison the abode of God.
How long can you carry fire in your bosom and not get burned? Sexual sins are devouring fires. It burns us into ashes. Talk about modesty from a pulpit, parishioners will walk out. Talk about R rated movies seen by families together, you will be called a hypocritical fanatic. God asks, “Who will speak for me. Whom shall I send?” This is the cry of God. This is the helplessness of God. His cry is a distant echo. His cry is forcefully buried by the insane mutterings of the modern man. We ask, “Who cares”.
The still small voice of God is getting muter and muter. One day it will stop. Then we have no conscience. We become intelligent, well dressed, well behaved animals who hide their roaring and untamed passions in their gentlemanly behaviors. Man will lose his soul. Moral relativism will take over and the Son of Man will be crucified in our homes, churches and cities.
The helpless Christ is still muttering. “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do”.
